Palermo

After review we took the train to Palermo for the weekend.

We wandered around a little,

and found a flea market.

Review

I'm changing the name of this blog. Once a day is apparently too hard for me to keep up with. But here's my sicily workshop final project! The purpose of this project was to find an existing crisis in Gioiosa Marea, and to solve it using information technology.  The crisis slide contains a short video which i've already posted earlier on in my blog (sicilian drivers) so check that out too.

Art Hotel in Tusa, Sicily

This is the lobby of a working hotel, where each hotel room is an art installation that was created by different artists from around Italy. These newspapers are all about the hotel, and are not repeated throughout the entire room.

Sunset

Normal sunset. But not every sun sets behind The Vatican.

Scaffolding!

Since I was a few days behind: This is a device that is used throughout the city (country?) to help shade the streets from the sun. The sun on the black pavement makes walking through the streets like being in a furnace, and the bent shield on the scaffolding helps to keep everyone cool. It also helps to catch falling debris so people don't get knocked out. Hooray dual purpose!

Feel like shopping?

Should you need to pick up an extra arch bishop's hat while in Rome, I know just the place to go.

S. Maria Pace

First project involves analysis of different piazzas around Rome, and I chose Piazza del S. Maria Pace (pa-chay). The church of Maria Pace is an infill site, and this is the approach to the piazza itself. Check out the AWESOME sky shape created by the roofs and the frame made by the buildings on either side.
