Cobblestone paving

This paving is everywhere in Rome. The reason for the curved design is that the stonelayer would lay the stones in an arc around him, at the radius of his arm, and move forward. The men would be spaced a certain distance apart, so that the tangents of each of the arcs match up perfectly. Just a smallscale sample of how much thought and planning went into something as simple as paving.

Some fountain I forget the location of

You only get this view if you're 6' tall, or standing on the stepping stones around the base of the fountain. It was created to be viewed from above from the homes surrounding it. Otherwise, it's just a gigantic stone dish that you can't see over from the ground level. It's about 20' in diameter.
